A Proven Chiropractic Approach
While there may be chiropractors in Sioux Falls who will try any new technique that comes along on their clients, at Excel Chiropractic, we believe in using chiropractic methods that have proven themselves to work. One of our approaches is commonly referred to as “Diversified,” which is a hand thrust adjustment method.
Our first step will be to analyze your spine, typically by case history and/or X-Ray. Next (this may be on a subsequent visit), we may perform motion palpation, which involves feeling your spinal joints as you move or bend. We may also do a leg check to uncover any imbalances in the neck or lower spine.
If we discover that one or more of your spinal bones is out of normal position, we’ll use hand thrusts to reposition them. Determining the direction, speed, depth, and angle we use on these manual thrusts involves years of experience, practice, and a thorough understanding of spinal mechanics.
What’s That Popping Sound?
Patients may report a slight “popping” sound or sensation as the thrust is delivered. This is the result of shifting gas and fluids in the joint. While such popping may be interesting, it isn’t indicative of the effectiveness of the adjustment.
While the Diversified method is most often used to improve spinal biomechanics, virtually all joints of the body can be adjusted with this method to restore proper range of motion.
